'The Kitten Whisperer': Saddest Dog at the Shelter Gets Rescued But Is Afraid to Come Out of His Shell Until His Mom Starts Fostering Kittens

Rescue dogs have been through unimaginable things in their life. Literally, some we will never know what actually happened to, but they are working on their traumas. Oftentimes, you meet a shelter dog and they are nervous, unsure, and might not even approach you. But over time, after you show them an abundance of love and patience, they start to truly flourish. It's like the revert back to being a puppy. They're happy and loving. Truly, rescue dogs know how to love—it's beautiful. 

So when this foster parent took in a very sad-looking dog from the k!ll shelter, she wasn't surprised that he didn't want to hang out with her at first. In fact, he would put himself in the corner and look away. It was all very heartbreaking. She tried everything for months to try and get him out of his shell, but he still seemed traumatized. That was, until, she brought in a kitten to foster. She was nervous, but the dog, who she named Chapo, immediately went into sweet Kitten-papa mode. He was very gentle and loving with these kittens and he started to really open up.

  • Now, Chapo is a happy man, still working on his traumas, but also the newly discovered kitten whisperer. His mom has fostered many kittens since the first one that came and opened him to be the big, loving, softy he is today. Each time he took on the role of temporary kitten-parent very seriously and now not only is he flourishing, but the kittens he has helped rescue are also flourishing. Just goes to show, us humans aren't the only ones who need some sweet lil furbaby therapy sometimes.
